St. Matthew’s is a neighborhood church with families that live and serve in the communities of Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Moorpark, and Camarillo. Established in 1966, the church was started by families who were creating a spiritual home for people of all ages.
We remain committed to sharing the love of Christ and serving your family- as our own. When we say “Welcome Home” at the end of every worship experience, we mean it.
As a United Methodist Church, we are connected to a world-wide missional movement that is open to all people- everywhere. The UMC has ministries in every country in the world. We also host an open table where everyone is invited to the Lord’s Table.
Mission
We are driven by our mission to: Love God, Serve Others, and Embrace Community! In our worship services, we are motivated to live out our mission through inspirational music and messages. We serve others through fighting for children who have no mobility, youth who are trafficked, and families who are hungry right here in the Conejo Valley. And we now are a MomCo Inc. sight for mom’s who need support and fellowship.

Pastor James Powell
Having served large, medium, and smaller congregations in several regions of the USA, my wife and I were appointed to St. Matthew’s in 2021. Being the end of the Covid pandemic, we have seen our families regain some balance in their spiritual lives, while continuing to serve children, youth, and adults all around the world.
My priority is to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ in a practical way to everyone can apply the Word of God to others, everyday of the week.
