Happiness is rarely gained when our focus is on the quest for happiness. Happiness is often experienced when pursuing something else. The something else may be the pursuit helping others. When we can reach across the great divide, the barrier between “us” and “them” we make a significant difference in the life of the other, but in our lives as well. We become who we truly are meant to be. We embrace our authentic identity and we experience the happiness that God intended. This Way of Being (Happy, chapter 4) requires a radical change within.
